Oh My Mimi began with a memory, a blanket, and a grandmother’s love.

Melissa Navarro, lovingly known as Mimi, first learned how to crochet around the age of 13 when her grandmother helped her make an afghan for her father. With her grandmother’s guidance, she completed that first special piece, then set the craft aside for many years.

When Melissa’s first granddaughter was born, she picked up crochet again and was surprised by how naturally it came back to her. This time, with more confidence and care, she made the second afghan of her life for her oldest granddaughter. From there, she continued creating handmade blankets as heartfelt gifts for family and friends.

Every blanket still carries that same feeling. Melissa feels her grandmother’s presence in every stitch she makes.

The name Oh My Mimi was born from a sweet family moment. One day, Melissa showed her granddaughter a blanket she had made, and her honest, precious reaction was, “Oh, My Mimi!” In that moment, Melissa knew that if she ever turned her love for crochet into a business, that would be the name.
